UBG Holsters
In the last few years I have purchased two custom holsters from Nate at UBG Holsters. I wanted to take a minute to let everyone know how impressed I am with this company.
When I started looking for a quality holster I found that the norm was a 20+ week turnaround time. I don't have that much patience so I did some digging. After posting some questions on various forums I had a small number of people mention "UBG Holsters, you won't be disappointed". A quick look at the website and I was ready to make my order. Not only was the cost of a UBG Holster less than all the other brands I found, the turnaround time was 4 weeks! Sure I was a little skeptical of the quality, but I figured I'd take the chance.
I ordered a IWB (inside waistband) holster called the "Canute". The holster was going to be used to carry a Dan Wesson Bobtail Commander 1911 with cocobolo grips so I chose the "Mahogany" colored leather.
After just over 3 weeks I received my holster. Immediately I was impressed, the fit and finish of the holster was as good as I've seen. The gun fit very tight at first, this was to be expected. UBG doesn't use any type of retention mechanism to keep the gun it place, they rely on a perfect fit between the leather and the gun to keep it firmly in place. I personally prefer a holster of this design because if the time ever comes that you need to draw the weapon, I don't want to have to unsnap or unhook something that might cost me valuable seconds.
The next test was the comfort of the holster, if it's not comfortable you won't wear it. When it comes to conceal carry weapons, the 1911 commander is on the larger end. I was amazed at how well the holster rode on my hip. Even under a loose white t-shirt the gun wasn't obvious. Throw on a button up shirt and it's invisible. I am able to wear the holster comfortable even while driving. In the past any trip over 20 minutes found my rig moving to the glove box. Not with the UBG holster, I regularly wear it for 2 hour road trips without knowing it's even there.
I couldn't be happier and decided to celebrate by ordering another holster for the only other gun in my collection without a home. My next purchase was another IWB holster, this time I would try the "Striker" model. I wanted to try the steel spring clips and compare it to the leather straps of the Canute. Again, just over 3 weeks later my new holster arrived. Like my previous purchase I was very happy. The Striker was very comfortable and even easier to put on.

Sum it up
So I've been using my UBG Holsters now for over 2 years, both have signs of use but are as functional as the day they showed up. In fact, as they break in, they are getting more and more comfortable. Nate at UBG really does a fantastic job and I find myself recommending him to anyone looking for a quality holster.
